2 month check-up

Ryland had his 2 month checkup yesterday.  He weighed in at 11lbs 14oz, 23 inches long and his head circumference was 40cm.  He is in the 50th percentile for everything, the Dr actually said he was perfectly proportional.  :)  This checkup also came with 6 vaccines, 1 oral and 3 shots.  He took the oral one no problem, then it was time for the shots.  Malek held his upper body down while the nurse gave him 2 shots in the left leg and 1 in the right leg.  Those needles were long!  I felt so bad for the little guy.  He was a trouper though and only cried for a couple mins.  He looks to have handled the vaccines really well, no fever or swelling.

Happy Father's Day!

To start the morning off right I made Malek a cappuccino, it was my first attempt making one and I must say it turned out pretty darn good!  Once the kids were awake Malek opened up his awesome gifts - a VB net, badminton set, running shirts, and mp3 player!  He's been begging me to let him put a sand volleyball court in our backyard since we moved in, my compromise was the net (no sand!).  For lunch we met up with the rest of the Malek/Barney clan at the Salt Lick in Driftwood. We made sure to get there by 11am to avoid the huge wait, and I'm so glad we did because it was super busy! We stuffed ourselves with the all you can eat option, took some family pictures, and came home and crashed. Happy Father's day to my wonderful hubby!  We love you!

2 Months

Ryland turned 2 months young yesterday (Sat 6/18)!  His 2 month appointment is actually next week so I don't have any specific measurements, but we're guessing he's around ~12 lbs.  He's been wearing 3 month clothing for a few weeks now.  :)  He's very alert, wanting to check out everything, and especially loves staring at the fan.  He also follows us with his eyes when we walk around or leave the room.

Ryland is still not a big fan of tummy time, however he does a great job holding up his head!  Check him out in his bumbo and jumper!  He definitely prefers to be in an upright position.

We've also discovered that Ryland loves jumping in the shower with daddy.  He's usually smiling and jabbering away in the water...though in this picture he looks a little more disgruntled.  Maybe he wasn't happy I took a picture of him in his birthday suit?  ;)

For the most part Ryland will sleep for a 4-5 hour stretch at night, waking around 3am and then again around 7am.  However there's been quite a few nights that he's tossed out his schedule and been up every 2 hours!  SO. NOT. FUN.  His swing has been a lifesaver and I'm not ashamed to admit that we've let him sleep in it once or twice at night just to survive.  He also prefers to nap in his swing during the day.

He's still eating 4oz at each feeding and sometimes needs another 2 oz 1.5 hours later (he likes to snack just like mommy).  We just can't make him drink more than 4oz at a time, stubborn boy.  I've found that Ryland is most talkative and playful in the morning and after he eats, smiling and cooing at mommy.  Of course when we try to video him he becomes very quiet as he is fascinated and intrigued by the camcorder.

Pool time!

Yesterday was Ryland's first trip to the pool.  I was unable to find swim diapers in his size so we could only stick his feet in the pool...he didn't seem to really enjoy the cold water.  :Þ  Overall he had a great time and he seemed to be very entertained by all the people, sunshine and water.  I think he looked adorable in his hat.  ;)

Memorial Day Weekend

Ryland had a very busy Memorial Day weekend and met several more family members.  :)

Unkie Bob arrived Thursday afternoon to meet Ryland.  Ryland was on his best behavior for Unkie Bob, even allowing us to eat dinner together while he napped.

Unkie Steve and Aunt LC (little Christina) flew in Friday evening for a visit.  They spent the entire weekend playing with Ryland, giving him a bath, feeding him and changing him!  Saturday we went to a friends house for a Memorial day BBQ. This was our first big get together with all of our friends kids, and I'm pleased to say it went splendidly!  We even went to Sam's boat for lunch on Sunday to introduce Steve and LC to crawfish.  Good times!

After Steve and LC left Monday morning, we went to Baba's house for lunch.  Baba even took the kids to the pool, giving the hubby, baby and I time to nap.  We definitely needed it after our busy weekend!

Here are the pictures from Ryland's newborn session when he was just 12 days old.  Thank you Melissa Q!  These are a few of my favorites.  :)

1 Month

I can't believe it's already been a month!  Our little boy has grown so much since we brought him home.  We weighed Ryland this morning at home and estimate him to be ~10 lbs (my scale does not have ounces).  He's a good little eater, taking in on average 125 mL a feeding.  Ryland's still not too fond of bath time.  We've only been able to give him sponge baths so far because it took forever for his stump to fall off!  He finally lost it 3 days ago, 1 day before he turned 4 weeks old.  Ryland has been doing great during tummy time, easily turning his head from side to side and lifting and holding his head up.  This past week he's actually fallen into a decent nights sleeping schedule, making it 4+ hours in between feedings.  I've been lucky and have only needed to get up with him once a night, usually around 2am, and then he makes it to 6-7am when the hubby gets up for work.  His fussy time is in the evenings, and last night he definitely gave us a run for our money.  Thank God for my awesome hubby who needs less sleep than me, I would be a wreck without him.

I had a little too much fun taking pictures of my one month old today!  He was a good sport for most of the pictures.  It was hard to pick a favorite so I've included quite a few of them.  Enjoy!
