6 Months

My baby turned 1/2 a year old on Tuesday Oct 18th!  I can't believe my little guy is 6 months young!

At Ryland's 6 month appointment he measured 27" long (75th percentile), 44.7cm head circumference, and weighed 16 lbs 10 oz (50th percentile) - nice growth spurt!  Many of his 6 month outfits just aren't long enough for him.  :)  He's also been doing great on rice cereal the past month; now we're onto puffs, sippy cups and puree baby foods!

Ryland is now a pro at sitting up.  At 5 months he was able to hold himself up for a wobbly minute or so, and now he doesn't need help at all!  In fact he he prefers to be in a sitting position and voices his displeasure when he's on his back.  He loves his walker, at first he could only go backwards but soon figured out forward motion.  He also has a ball in the around-we-go, leaving a nice indentation in the carpet at my parents house from his continuous circling.

The last few events we've attended we used the front carrier, and Ryland seems to really enjoy facing out and watching people.  It's so cute how excited he gets, kicking his legs out and jabbering away at everyone that passes by.  He's quite the social butterfly.  Speaking of jabbering, our little guy 'talks' all the time!  We've caught him talking to himself in the mirror and babbling away while playing in his walker.  Malek keeps trying to teach Ry to say mama, I think his efforts have ulterior motives.  ;)

Hanging around 10/1/2011

We started Ryland on puree foods today.  He wasn't too thrilled with his first taste of sweet potatoes.  I thought for sure he'd love them. :(  He seemed very confused by either the taste or consistency (it wasn't rice cereal that's for sure), but ate it regardless.  Hopefully next time he'll be more enthusiastic.  

My lil gangstas! 10/6/2011

Ryland is a great sleeper.  Most nights he's in bed by 8:15pm and sleeps until 6:30am.  Usually about once a week he'll wake up around 3am for a bottle.  I think it's because our little tyke is growing and waking up hungry.  That could explain his growth spurt, from 50th to 75th percentile in height. ;)

Ryland is a sweet, super happy little guy with an occasional serious side and crazy hair.  I can't wait to pick him up in the mornings and hold him after work.  I can't imagine my life without him now.  We just love him to pieces!
