18 Months

Our little lady is 1.5 yrs old!! I can't believe Carsyn is 18 months young already, how time flies. At her her 18 month checkup she was still in the 25% for weight at 22 lbs and 10 oz, height just over 50% at 32" and head around 80% at 47.9cm. As we missed her 15 month checkup (just like Ry) she had to catch up on some shots and received 3 total. The Dr is happy with her progress, except for her speech. At this point she should be saying at least 10 words. The only words we've really heard are 'mama' and 'ouch', the rest is just baby babble. Carsy understands everything we say though, she will even nod her head yes or shake it back and forth for no when we ask her questions. When it's time for bed she waves bye bye and gives kisses and if you ask her if she needs a diaper she'll nod her head, pat her backside and head for the changing table. ;) She's a smart cookie, once she decides to speak I bet it will be in full sentences! Carsy also recently moved up to the next classroom at daycare. Our little girl is growing up!

As Easter was this month the kids experienced tons of egg hunts and sugar rushes. Thankfully the candy inhaling only lasted a couple days before they forgot about their stashes. The day before Easter we went to Opa and Juju's house for an eggs Benedict breakfast and a backyard egg hunt. Carsy and Ry had a blast, they loved playing with those eggs and discovering the goodies within. Carsyn especially liked her solid chocolate bunny.

Carsy was so cute when she woke up Easter morning and saw her basket (the bunny on the right). She immediately grabbed it and started hugging/loving on it. She thought it was a toy! All her Easter goodies fell out of it, but she didn't mind. We also hid some eggs around the house for them to find.

Later that day we went over to a friends house for an Easter celebration. They had a HUGE Easter egg hunt around the entire house, tons of food and cascarones. This was our first time participating in the confetti egg fun.

Car-Car loves food, most of the time she'll out eat her brother. Lately bananas have been a big one for her, she's constantly wanting them and she will eat the entire thing! I've actually been able to get her to make monkey noises while holding her banana. :snicker:

Carsy is definitely an outside kid. She loves taking walks in her wagon, going to the park and playing in the water...except for sprinklers, she currently HATES getting wet via a sprinkler. I'm not sure why as this girl loves the shower...kinda the same thing right??? Car-Car is pretty brave, she'll even climb up rock walls by herself! She also likes to taunt you when she reaches the top, leaning over like she might fall off and then smiling and laughing at you when she sees your worried face. Not to mention Carsy loves her brother and tries to do everything he does, and she's successful most of the time! She's such a sweet, smart, loving, adorable crazy girl! <3

14 Months

Carsyn is 14 months young and such a doll! She has the sweetest disposition and laughs/giggles all the time. She loves to have books read to her and her favorite toys are these 2 little plush monkeys, all her push toys (ball popper, baby stroller, wagon, etc) and Ryland's toys. Carsyn weighs about 21/21 lbs and still only has 2 teeth! I thought for sure her top ones would pop through this month in time for Christmas, but they are still in hiding. You can see the top 4 main teeth just below the gums, why they haven't managed to break free yet we can't figure out, but it gives her the cutest little toothless grin.

Carsyn is down to one nap a day, usually from 12-2pm and she now refuses to use her highchair. We've switch her to a booster seat and she's much happier. This girl just loves to eat! She also loves to go outside and when she thinks you are leaving the house she will go to the closet and demand her coat. We've been taking a lot of walks lately (Ry on his tractor and Carsy in her stroller) and trips to the park. This girl loves to slide! Usually she goes down hands first on her belly, but every once in a while she will go feet first or even backwards. She's so adventurous!

We took Carsy and Ry to Safari Camps and she held in there with the bigger kids! We had several moms stop us to find out her age, they couldn't believe she was only 1 year old and walking as well as she does. Ever since she started walking at 10 months we haven't been able to stop her! She's so athletic and has amazing control over her body. She definitely acts older than she is...like 18 (MONTHS!). ;)

Right before Christmas a local photographer was looking for baby models for a designer. I responded to the ad (which happened to be in the neighborhood) and was able to take Carsyn to the test shoot. The designer loved this test picture (below) so much that she chose it for her fall collection! My little girl is the one on the left. And so it begins! One happy, proud mama right here!

13 Months

Hard to believe my babygirl is a toddler! Carsyn weighs about ~21 lbs despite all the food she consumes. This girl can really chow down! She's been known to stand in front of the fridge or pantry door crying until someone gives her something to eat. She'll even try to climb into her high chair when she wants more food. She can also feed herself and is actually quite good at using a fork. Car-Car still only has her 2 bottom teeth, HOWEVER you can see 4 white bumps along her top gum line, her 4 front main teeth (central and lateral incisors) are trying to push through! She should definitely (fingers x'd) have these teeth in by Christmas. :)

Carsyn has finally adjusted to the time change, AND IT IS WONDERFUL! She goes down between 8-8:30 pm and has been sleeping until 7 am, sometimes even later! I love feeling like we are sleeping in. ;) Even Ryland has joined the program and is sleeping later, sometimes until 8am! I wish bath time was as enjoyable. Right now Carsy is none too thrilled to be in the tub, she does much better if we take her in the shower with us.

The day after Halloween we went to a free 5K race at the Dell Diamond. We ended up skipping the run and just did a short trot across the finish line into the stadium for all the free fun. The kids loved it! There was tons of food and games and live music. Ry really liked the giant moon pie character and kept dragging Carsyn over to say hi.

Our kids love the outdoors. Lately we've been hitting up the parks in the neighborhood. Ry will ride his motorcycle and Carsy jams in her stroller. They especially like to swing, see daddy and Ry doing the spider below!!! And Car-Car has discovered slides. She has no problem climbing up the steps to the top of the slide, then it's up to her to decide if she goes down feet or hands first. She usually chooses to go down on her tummy, hands first. This girl is quite athletic and an explorer. She loves to go up and down the stairs, and has even started going out the doggie door! She's constantly pointing to the window to go outside and loves to take walks. She's super quick too, if we leave a ladder out, the next thing we know she's on the top rung! The same thing goes for chairs. She'll climb right up, stand up while holding the back of the chair, and shake it back and forth as if she were trying to move it. Talk about a dare devil!! She's even been known to crawl onto table tops. Our little table dancer. ;)

Carsyn is such a doll! I mean she really looks like a little porcelain doll to me. Look how cute she is in her pink and black polka dotted hat with her pink and black fancy coat. She just steals my heart. Carsyn has such a sweet disposition. She loves to cuddle and is so gentle. She has the most infectious 'dolphin' laugh and her eyes light up when she smiles.

The holidays are coming and going so fast! It feels like Halloween was only a few days ago, and now we're already past Thanksgiving! The kids had a blast at Aunt B and Uncle D's house for Thanksgiving. I think Carsy really liked all the different foods, and of course she fed herself for the entire meal, sitting at a table in a kids chair all by herself! She's growing up so fast.

15 weeks

5/17/2013 - 15 weeks and 6 days.

How I Look - The same. Still wearing my normal clothes. I tried a pair of maternity pants on Thursday and they were still too big. I had to keep pulling them up. ;)

Weight: -2 lbs.

How I Feel - Great!

Symptoms - Haven't really noticed anything this week. Occasional soreness with the "twins" in the morning.

Cravings - Fruit and Cheetos. Cravings are starting to dwindle.

Exercise - The Deutschen Pfest 5K is this coming weekend. I was bad this week with working out...so far I've only worked out twice. I need to get in another run before Sun, perhaps Sat morning...

What I'm Looking Forward To - My next Dr appointment (which is next week). I want to hear my baby girl's heartbeat!

What I'm NOT Looking Forward To - is the upcoming TX heat...it appears that we've finally lost our nice cool front. 75 and humid in the mornings and reaching 90s during the day, ugh!

Odds & Ends - Mother's day this past weekend was nice and relaxing. I took my mom to brunch with friends at Max's Dive Bar downtown, they had a great brunch buffet (loved the french toast). The hubby (and kids) gave me new sunglasses and a new giant mother's mug for cappuccinos. The next day they took me out to dinner.

21 Months

Another busy month full of holidays, family and friends (and tons of pictures). Uncle Steve and Aunt Christina came for a visit, we enjoyed several Christmas get togethers, hosted a New Year's Eve party, started swim lessons, joined a tumbling class and attended a daycare friend's birthday party. Whew!

We finally remembered to weigh Ry and he's currently at 26 lbs and firmly in size 18 months. He's almost ready to go into the next size up, although he's a little on the skinny side for 24 months and the pants just fall off him. Daycare can't stop talking about our little Ry. KRK said he may be the smallest in his class but he's definitely the brightest. He will help count with the teacher and even helps feed the other kids! At home he's started singing along to the alphabet train...I think he has the first 4-5 letters down. He's also very inquisitive, always trying to figure out how things work and go together. AND he's all about potty time! We bought him a Thomas the Train potty seat and he really enjoys sitting on it! Every morning and when we get back from work he'll drag us to the bathroom so that he can sit on the potty. He still has yet to actually do anything.

This little busy body is constantly on the go, so I signed him up for swim lessons at Aqua-tots and a tumbling class at the Y. So far he LOVES it. I think Ry is definitely going to be an athlete like his parents. He has wonderful motor skills and control over his body. The swim lessons are indoors at a heated pool and last for 30 mins. He is quite the water baby and never wants to get out. He has discovered a new love at bath time as well, bubble baths! After half an hour we start emptying the tub and he will play even more feverishly as the water disappears. In the end we have to tear him away from the tub, shivering from the cold, lips trembling and blue as he refuses to stop his water fun.

Ry has a ball playing with our doggies. On the weekends when the weather is nice we'll take them all out to the dog park from some exercise. Great way to tire out the entire family. :)

Our little guy is making the rounds! Round and round we go on the carousel. Opa and JuJu have taken Ry to Lakeline mall twice now to play on the toddler playground, ride the train and take a spin on the carousel. Can you say spoiled! We also recently tried out Safari Champ for a birthday party. I wasn't sure what to expect from this place although I had heard great things about it. When we walked in I was blown away! The playscapes were amazing! We barely had Ry in the door when he took off towards the biggest one and was gone. He squealed and giggled and had a grand ole time. A couple times daddy had to go up after him to help with the larger steps, I think daddy is really just a big kid. ;) Who am I kidding, I wanted play in there as well, except I forgot to wear socks. We will definitely go back soon.

Christmas was a blur. We have both sides of the family in town and I think we must have celebrated a good 3-4 times over the break! Ry and his cousins enjoyed a pillow fight at Nana's house one evening. Once my brother and his wife arrived we hit up the Oasis, Pluckers, Chinese food for xmas eve dinner and even enjoyed a night by the fire pit on our back patio. We managed to wrangle everyone up for some more Christmas photos, visited with the Malek side of the family and finally rung in the New Year at our house with some neighbors and family.
