Nursery for Baby Girl!

Even though we finished painting and staging the nursery a couple weeks ago, I'm just now getting around to blogging about it.  I love how it all turned out!  I find the purples very soothing and love the aqua and (lime) green accents.  It took us about 3 days to complete the painting process.  Most of it was done in the first day, with the remaining 2 days consisting of painting the white stripe and touch-ups.  The crib bedding and butterfly pillow we received as a registry gift and I purchased the futon bedding.  The glider we moved in from Ry's room and the dresser is actually a piece from my old furniture set from when I was a kid!  The mobile was from Ry's room as well, which was given to us by a friend.  I'm just tickled purple with how well everything coordinates.  :)  I can't wait to see what we get from our baby sprinkle/shower.  I'm looking forward to hanging up letters for her name and wall decor.

27 weeks

8/7/2013 - 27 weeks and 4 days 
Last week of my 2nd trimester! 

How I Look -  My belly is large and in charge!  Some of my friends are surprised by how different this pregnancy is from my first.  During my first pregnancy they could barely tell I was pregnant until after 6 months.  This time around they could tell much earlier.  And I'm only gonna get bigger!

Weight :  +13.5 lbs.  

How I Feel -  Lower back aches and increased trips to the bathroom, but otherwise OK.

Symptoms -  Lately my right arm from the shoulder down has been going numb, especially my hand.  It even happens when sleeping, I'm unable to lay on my side without my hand/arm going numb.  I will definitely talk to the Dr about this development at my next appointment next week.

Cravings - Ice cream, chocolate and fruit.

Exercise -  Workouts have been dwindling.  Work has been crazy busy lately which has made it hard for me to work out.  Plus it's so hot (above 100 degrees) that I do not want to venture outside for walks.

What I'm Looking Forward To -  Scheduling maternity pictures, we have a photog friend who offered to take them for us for free!  Super excited for my baby shower in September.  I received the invitation today and they are super cute, awesome job hostesses A, J and Mom!!   Meeting my new baby girl in Oct and finally being able to sleep on my stomach again (Nov)!

What I'm Not Looking Forward To - Glucose test next week.  Last time I actually liked the orange drink, it tasted like orange crush.  I'm sure the taste won't be an issue this time either, all I'm worried about are the results.

Odds & Ends -  The nursery is painted and staged and I LOVE IT!  It turned out beautifully and I find the room very soothing.  I felt a little guilty that Ry's room is so neutral, so we went out and bought some blue paint to spruce up his room.  Hopefully we'll get to that in the next couple of weeks.  By next week I'll also need to register at the hospital.  I can't believe how quickly time is flying by, third tri here I come!

Presenting the Nursery!

I think the nursery is pretty much done!  I do eventually want to hang some wall shelves by the queen bed to hold pictures and/or books, but that can wait.  A big thank you to my hubby for hanging all the wall decor this past weekend.  I think the baby is going to LOVE his room.  :D

Even the diaper cake has a spot.

I will remove the fancy bumpers and add the breathable crib bumpers once the baby moves from the bassinet to the crib.

Staging take 2!

We rearranged the baby's room again, trying to find the best way to accommodate all the furniture and still keep the bed.  :)  Here's the latest layout:

Crib, curtains and glider oh my!

Lots of changes/home improvements going on in the Malek household!

Hubby and I painted all the bedrooms upstairs the weekend before my parents arrived for the holidays (yes, I really did paint).  The nursery received a nice kilim beige coat of paint, which will go perfectly with the crib bedding we picked out.

Next my dad and hubby put together the Pali Paula crib, which a good friend of mine from out of town gave to me.  It did arrive a bit damaged, but the men expertly repaired it!  Now we just need the mattress.

I ordered curtains from Restoration Hardware before my parents arrived, the curtains were delivered the day before xmas!  We bought a nice mahogany wood pole and finials from Home Depot and my dad hung them up for us.  The blue curtains match the crib bedding perfectly!

My mom found a new lamp base for the brown shade I had in the guest room.  The color matches the crib and dresser...and it was only $4 from Goodwill!

I also purchased a mirror with dark wood frame to hang above the dresser from HomeGoods.  We are still trying to figure out the best way to arrange the room before we can hang the mirror.  I'm trying to keep the bed in the room so I have a place to crash if I need to stay with the baby all night...but that queen sized bed takes up a lot of space!  We might have to take it out and put our futon in there or a couch from the game room....decisions decisions.

Yesterday I found an awesome glider and ottoman on Craigslist for only $45 - what a steal deal!  :D  It's super comfortable.  Currently it's located in our garage until we move it upstairs. 

Next up is to paint Emma's old dresser espresso and use it in the nursery.  We put all my old furniture from my childhood (which is still in awesome condition) into Emma's room, so she has a nice matching set. 

The baby's room is coming along splendidly!
