Crawling, Teeth AND Pulling up!

July has been a milestone of a month for Carsyn.  Three days after she turned 8 months she took off crawling and hasn't stopped!  The following week her bottom teeth FINALLY emerged!  Two of them broke through with a 3rd playing peek a boo on the gum line.  And to top it all off she started pulling-up this past Saturday (7/12)!  Now that she's mobile Carsyn is all over the house, this makes it much harder for mommy and daddy to keep track of her.  One minute she's in the living room playing with a toy, the next she's in the kitchen looking for food!  To our dismay she's discovered the stairs...guess it's time to put back up the baby gate.

Our little girl is 8 months young and curious as a cat!  We weighed her at 17.3 lbs, but then a few days later she went to the Dr with a sinus infection and weighed 17 lbs...go fig.  Carsyn is soooo close to crawling.  She will get up on 3 limbs and usually rests/drags/sits on the 4th limb (back leg).  She'll move her arms forward as well as one knee, but then will either go back to a sitting position or fall down.  We're just waiting for the last leg to move!  She will also grab a hold of the chairs or the ottoman and kinda peer over, almost pulling up but not quite all the way.  Again soooo close!
Almost crawling!

Carsyn still doesn't have any teeth but that doesn't stop her from eating real food.  She will eat the squeeze bag foods (like applesauce and other mixes) but she refuses normal baby food in the jars.  She loves her yogurt melts, crunchies, puffs, chicken/turkey sticks, watermelon and even tries to go after our food.  We decided while we were at the beach we would feed her our food.  SHE LOVED IT!  Car-Car went to town on scrambled eggs, sausage, hot dogs, donut sticks, ice-cream, french fries, rice, etc.  Whatever we gave her (in small bites of course) she consumed without hesitation.  If she sees you eating something, she will look you straight in the eye and grunt.  Kinda like she's saying "I want that!".  And you better share or we have a very unhappy baby.  ;)  Whenever she can get her hands on a cup she'll drink from it like a big girl.  She can also sip from a straw which makes it much easier.

June was a very busy month.  Godparents Steve and Christina came to visit with their new baby Mason.  Ryland and Carsyn finally got to meet their cousin!  We had extended family pictures taken (coming soon) and then we went to Port A the last week in June.  Carsy wasn't sure what to make of all that sand and the ocean, but she hung in there!  Mostly she played with toys under the pop up, played with Mason and ate food.

Carsyn is very active, curious and vocal.  She loves playing with the tablet, mommy's phone, Ry's toys (while he's playing with them) or the TV remote.  Carsy's constantly looking around and exploring, she's very aware of her surroundings.  She also loves to cuddle and touch your face, arm, neck.  And this little lady can jabber!  We love her giggles, squeals of delight and grunts.  Right now Carsyn is all about mommy and is happy as a clam when I tote her around.  Of course that means Ry is all about mommy as well, it's a constant battle for mommy's lap!

7 Months

Carsyn 7 Months Young, 17 lbs - 5/28/2014
Who's really starting to show her personality?  Baby girl Carsyn, that's who!  This little girl is really coming into her own.  She's a chatter box, I swear I even heard her say "mama" the other day, and she's an eater!  Carsy now weighs 17 lbs and wants food all the time.  I'm not talking about jar food (stage 2) either, she wants foods that she can pick up such as puffs, yogurt melts...she really does like her oatmeal cereal as well.  She also loves to drink water from mommy's cup.  Surprisingly enough see doesn't seem to want her bottle as much, sometimes she flat out refuses it!  Makes it kind of difficult when we're trying to give her that last bottle before bed so she'll sleep the whole night through.  Speaking of sleeping through the night, most of the time Carsyn makes it from 8:30pm-6:30am.  Of course we've had some rough nights in there where she drops her paci or just wakes up hungry at 3am.

Despite wanting all that food and more since she turned 7 months a couple weeks ago, she still has zero teeth!  The hubby swears her gums look a bit swollen, and we thought she was teething a couple weeks ago, but still no teeth.  Hopefully they'll make an appearance this next month.

Carsy has some great facial expressions.  She loves to smile and play with daddy.  She makes funny little noises when she's chattering away and when she gets mad, watch out!  Oh that face!  She can look so mean and serious (eyebrows furrowed and all).  But overall she's a very happy, energetic little girl.  She really loves her around-we-go and playing in the game room with Ryland.  This girl doesn't want to miss anything!  She'll follow people with her eyes all around the room, and she loves watching the dogs.  When mommy comes home from work she gets super excited and bounces around until I pick her up.  Ahhh, love...  :)

Check out Carsyn scooting/crawling backwards.  That's right, she pushes herself backwards.  Now we're just waiting for her to put it into first gear.  She will try and pull herself up if you hold her hands, she's so close to grasping both concepts on her own.  I'm hoping she's watching those other kids very closely at daycare and picks it up from them.
I push myself backwards
On mother's day we went to dinner at Rio Grande, and check it out below, she ate guacamole and loved it!  She just couldn't get enough.  A few days later we tried her on some more at the house, but the brand we bought must have had more spices and something else in there because she had an allergic reaction!  I freaked out when I first saw all the little pin dots show up on her arms, legs and neck.  We gave her some allergy medicine and kept her inside in the A/C and it started to go away.  Whew!  I thought we were going to have to take her to the ER at first.  Since then we haven't tried guac again, we want to wait a couple more months and then try plain avocado.
5/11 - Trying guac!  No spices please.

Carsyn and Ryland are such a joy.  They are great with older bro-bro and sissy as well.  Just look at those adorable faces!

Carsyn's 6 Month Photos

Carsy's 6 months photos are to DIE for!  I absolutely love the color scheme, all built around her tutu, which I found online at TrinitysTutus.  I'm just so in love with this session by Noelle Kai Photography.

Ry's 3 Year Update

We have a 3 year old, how did this happen so fast?  It still boggles my mind how intelligent kids can be and how quickly they grow.  At Ryland's 3 year check-up he measured 38 1/2 inches (70%, finally broke average!) and weighed 31 lbs (50%) with a BMI of 14.7 (yeah...the Dr actually wrote down his BMI, not something I thought about as a kid myself).  He is hitting and succeeding all his milestones; uses 5+ words in a sentence, talks constantly, plays make believe and loves to build with blocks, puzzles, etc.  All though he's not too keen on drawing, he does like play dough and daddy's tools.

This boy is super active as well.  He's always on the go and can run like the wind.  He loves rough housing with daddy and can throw a ball fairly straight with either his left or right hand.  We still aren't sure if he'll be right or left handed; sometimes he eats with his left, sometimes with his right, he's constantly going back and forth, however he will usually kick a ball with his right foot.  We've signed him up for playball at daycare, each week they'll learn a different sport/skill, so maybe his dominate hand will surface.

Our little guy is fully potty trained!  Yup that's right, a week or so before he turned 3 it was official.  99.5% of the time he wakes up dry from the night, so no more night time pull-ups!  He still has an occasional accident here and there but it's minimal.  He's been wearing underwear for a good 5+ months now.  It's so nice to be down to only one child in diapers (baby Carsyn your days in diapers are numbered, even if you are only 7 months old)!

Ry loves his trains and train tracks, planes (usually the ones in the sky, not toys), construction vehicles and trucks, dinosaurs, snakes, sharks, puzzles, tools (ex: drills) and various stuffed animals.  He'll take his dinos into the bath tub with him and his snake and giraffe or teddy to bed.  Anytime he goes to visit someone or out to eat he packs a bag that usually consists of his favorite front-end loader and dinos.  The sweet thing about Ry is that he's great with sharing.  The majority of the time he'll offer up his toys to other kids and show them how they work.  He's also good with sharing his food, as long as you don't try to take it first, if you ask he usually gives you a piece of what he's eating.

Ryland is quite the chatter box, some mornings he just DOES NOT STOP TALKING!  Some of his favorite phrases are (not all of them good):
  • Five more minutes!
  • Look, there's a hairplane - Apparently planes have hair?
  • I'm sorry, you OK?  I get you a band-aid.
  • I kiss it? (when you have a boo boo)
  • I like this!
  • I have some of mommy's drink?
  • Can I have some chocolate, please?
  • I put on my 'jamas now?  - This kid loves his pajamas!
  • Jesus Ch****  - Yeah, this is new...we are trying to put a stop to this one.
  • I don't want to go to bed.
  • Purrr (put) her down (meaning baby Carsyn) or Purrr me down.
  • I play with friends.
  • I don't want to go to school
  • I put on ____ (animated movie) OK?  On the big TV.
  • Fast forward mommy - He's as impatient with commercials as we are thanks to DVR!
Did I mention he also loves to sing?  And he will cycle through all of these one after another!
  • ABCs
  • twinkle twinkle little star
  • the wheels on the bus go round and round
  • the itsy bitsy spider
  • bringing home a baby bumble bee

Carsyn's Baptism

Carsyn was baptized this weekend by the Trinity fountain in front of the sanctuary at our Church.  It was a beautiful day and Carsyn seemed to really enjoy herself, she was a perfect angel, no crying!  Afterwards we celebrated with family and friends at our house with Rudy's BBQ and cake.  Carsyn wore the gown that I was baptized in as a baby, hand smocked, so precious!  My brother Steve and SIL Christina were named as Godparents.
The gown - I wore the same gown when I was baptized!
