The first appointment was last Friday, he was 4 days old. Everything check out just fine. He lost 6% of his body weight, which is normal. He went from 8 lbs 3 oz to 7 lb 11 oz and apparently he shrunk to 20.5 inches (not sure I believe that). He's perfectly average, in the 50th percentile. His head circumference measured 36.5 cm.
His second appointment was today, at 11 days old. He gained back all the weight he lost! He went back up to his birth weight and length, at 8lb 3oz and 21 3/4 inches. His head circumference measured 37 cm. They also took some blood from his heel for the second newborn screening. I felt so bad for the little guy, his face turned bright red and he let loose a heart-wrenching scream when they poked him. I was happy to get him back in my arms and home after that.
